A couple of things I wrote just before the anti-gay amendment vote in NC:
“There are 31,173 verses and 774,746 words in the bible. There are 508 verses commanding you to love (NIV). There are less than half that on judging and those are saying to not do it.
If you choose to focus on 2 verses (.006 %) of the bible to deny other people their pursuit of love free from judgement, you need to take a long, objective look at how Christian you really are.”
“Also for my NC friends… If anyone tries to quote Leviticus 18:22 or 20:13 – ‘thou shalt not lie with another man….’, ask if they have a tattoo, eat any pork products, wear clothing of more than one kind of material or eat shellfish. They must also perform animal sacrifices after births and do nothing on the Sabbath. There are other ones, some too disgusting to mention here.
If they give you an excuse:
Leviticus 26:14-16 commands them to carry out all those commandment equally.
Deuteronomy 4:2 and 12:32 says to not add or subtract from the Bible
Revelations 22:18 says the same
This appears in many other places in the Bible. Either they believe their book and are willing to follow everything to the letter as God commanded or they are hypocrites which is hated by the Jesus and God of the Bible so much it is in about every chapter of the Bible many times over – http://www.openbible.info/topics/hypocrisy
1 John 2:9 – Whoever says he is in the light and hates his brother is still in darkness.”
